On December 8-10, a 100k test sample was produced on the UC tier2 prototype cluster. Initial issues were encountered on the local tier3 cluster due to a compiler mismatch, which was easily resolved. The 100k test sample was successfully repeated in just 5 hours on December 18, with a production expectation of up to 750k events per day in production mode. Matt Strassler from the University of Washington discussed Hidden Valley models that predict light scalar Higgs particles decaying into long-lived new particles. Analysis will focus on H->hh->bbbb and hidden valley samples in parallel.

FTK production jobs • 100k test sample produced Dec 8-10 on the UC tier2 prototype cluster. • Initially had problems running on our local “tier3” cluster. • Eventually discovered problems due to compiler mismatch, with easy fix. • Repeated 100k test sample in 5 hrs on Dec 18! • In production mode, I expect to produce up to 750k events/day. FTK Meeting
Hidden Valley models • Matt Strassler (U Washington) explores “Hidden Valley” model space—regions having light particles, but so far inaccessible experimentally for some reason. • One class of HV models has light scalar Higgs decaying into new long-lived (3 ps-3 ns) particles. (hep-ph/0605193) • If those new particles decay to jets, the event signature is 2 pairs of jets, each pair sharing a displaced vertex. FTK Meeting
HV benchmark models BOLD = I have a 100k-event sample… FTK Meeting
Analysis • Plan to analyze H->hh->bbbb and the hidden valley samples in parallel. • Background samples/rates are the same. • Use Anton’s recent speed improvement to the LVL1 trigger rate function. FTK Meeting
