Workshop Intentions By the end of this session you should be able to; • know how to use the basic functions of the GarageBand program • create an original, multi track composition using GarageBand • learn how to create a Podcast and how to share it • have lots of ideas of how the use of the GarageBand program could be used for and by your PYP students • explore GarageBand on iPad (for those interested)

  4. Fundamentals REFER TO GARAGBAND FOR BEGINNERS GUIDE FOR REFERENCE Opening the program Starting a new project Finding and selecting loops Creating a multi tracked composition Adjusting individual track volume

TASK 1 15-20 minutesBE A ROCK GURU Create your own multi tracked composition SPECIFICATIONS Max 32 bars in length. 4 tracks; Beats, Bass, Guitars and FX Staggered entrances and finishes of each track (so you’ll get a pyramid effect) Follow the instructions on the GarageBand for Beginners guide (if needed)

  7. TASK 2 15 minutes CREATE A BACKING TRACK FOR ONE OF THE FOLLOWING; Music for a Wildlife Documentary (look at FX and World loops) Music for a TV advert for energy sports drink or an extreme sports retailer Music for a Yoga Class

  10. What is a Podcast? A podcast is a method of publishing recorded talk, music and sometimes text, images or movies via the Internet, (or school network) in a way that shares your content automatically and on a regular basis with your listeners.

  11. TASK 3 15 minutes Create an audio podcast. It could be a quick report, announcement or advert for something school based. Add music (jingles , stingers) and your voice recording
