The U.S. Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division has launched an initiative to combat discriminatory backlash experienced by Arab, Muslim, Sikh, South Asian, and Middle Eastern communities in the U.S. following the events of 9/11. This includes investigating complaints, ensuring the protection of civil rights under 6 U.S.C. 345, and addressing issues related to discrimination, profiling, and detention conditions. Community roundtables are being held in key cities to facilitate dialogue and promote cultural competency.
