  5. Size can vary depending on the extent of the assessment-its scope. Should be at least 2 members. Process improvement => bigger team. Assessment team leader & coordinator appointed first. One member may be from the company -- depends on assessment purpose. All team members should be trained in the SPICE process.   6. Preparing the Assessment Team • Brief the team on:- Purpose - Scope - Constraints - Approach - Schedule - Responsibilities • Assessment Team • must know:- parts of SPICE model within the scope - the rating scheme - concept of achievement Assessment Prep - slide# 6

Scheduling the Assessment • Confirm assessment scope with customer • Identify assessment activities(inspections, interviews, opening & closing meetings) • Establish a schedule • Determine customer staff roles • Give schedule to customer early (>2 wks) • Confirm staff & documents are available Assessment Prep - slide# 7

Gathering Supporting Documents & Records • Can be a big problem … - records may be scattered (different sites) - time to reproduce (if necessary) - permission to view them may be needed • Identify what is needed early and let the customer know (in writing) • Keep following up - don’t assume they will be immediately available Assessment Prep - slide# 11
