  2. 2012 NMISC Election results and sub-committee chairs (1) • We had eight candidates for 5 seats on NMISC and the new members are: AbhijitJ. Chaudhari– Univ. of Claifornia, Davis Georges El Fakhri– MGH/Harvard Medical School Andrew L. Goertzen– University of Manitoba George Loudos– Technological Educational Institute, Athens Taiga Yamaya– National Institute of Radiological Sciences, Japan Their terms will go from 1 January 2013 until 31 December 2015.

  3. 2012 NMISC Election results and sub-committee chairs (2) • We had three candidates for 1 seat as NMISC representative on AdCom and the new representative from 1 January 2013 until 31 December 2016 is: Ronald J. Jaszczak – Duke University • In addition, • Irene Buvatwill continue as the Chair of Awards/Fellows Sub-committee • Ray Muzicwill continue as the Chair of Communications (Web) Sub-committee

Medical Imaging Conference status and plans (1) • 2012, Anaheim: • 755 abstracts submitted • 710 accepted • 585 poster presentations over 4 parallel sessions • 125 oral presentations • 5 parallel and 3 single sessions • 2 joint sessions (MIC/RTSD and NSS/MIC) • 1 triple-joint session (NSS/MIC/RTSD)

Medical Imaging Conference status and plans (2) • 2012, Anaheim (cont.): • 4 morning refresher courses • Light detectors: technology and applications • Ultrasound Imaging and its application in minimally invasive interventional guidance • ROC analysis in medical imaging • The development and validation of useful radiopharmaceuticals • Two plenary sessions • Invited speakers: • Dr. W. Jagust (University of California, Berkeley): “Multi-modality Imaging and the Future of Alzheimer’s Disease” • Dr. J. Matthews (University of British Columbia, Vancouver): titled “PRACTICING “ASTROMEDICINE” Lessons in imaging and inversion from a rocket scientist”

Medical Imaging Conference status and plans (3) • 2012, Anaheim (cont.): • Awards Hoffman Medical Imaging Scientist Award Simon Cherry, Professor of Biomedical Engineering, University of California, Davis “For pioneering contributions to preclinical PET and molecular imaging” Hasegawa Young Investigator Medical Imaging Scientist Award Chi Liu, Assistant Professor of Diagnostic Radiology and Biomedical Engineering, Yale University “For contributions to the imaging physics of SPECT/CT and PET/ CT, with emphasis in quantitative imaging and motion correction”

Medical Imaging Conference status and plans (4) • 2013, Seoul, Korea: Hee-Joung Kim is General Chair; Jae Sung Lee will be the MIC Program Chair. • Committee met in Anaheim • Conference poster and call for papers printed and handed out at the meeting • Tentative program schedule has been developed from Oct. 27-Nov. 02, 2013

  8. Medical Imaging Conference status and plans (3) • 2014, Seattle, WA: Tony Lavietes is General Chair; Georges El Fakhri will be the MIC Program Chair. • 2015: Final decision has been made. Meeting will be San Diego, with VesnaSossi as the General Chair • 2016, Strasbourg, France: Maxim Titov will be General Chair
