  1. Automation of a Current-Voltage Characterization System Studentsadvisors Phillip butler Dr. Doug harper Jeffrey DeJarnette Dr. sanjugupta

  2. Overview • Develop a system that will allow a researcher to perform a current versus voltage characterization of a sample • Use Labview to autonomously control and communicate with stand-alone instrument • Acquire Current-Voltage data of various materials (films) • Project Unique Attributes • Instrument Control • Third Party interfacing

  3. Objectives • Provide alternative selections such as • 2 or 4 probe system • Sourcing current or voltage • Single run or sweep function • Send commands as strings • Export data as text (delimited) document or spreadsheet format to be further analyzed • Provide documentation for future expansions

  4. Equipment Keithley 2400 Sourcemeter PC with Labview Electrical probes

  5. Process GRAPH ARRANGEMENTS I vs V V vs time I vs time

  6. model front panel

  7. Where we are now • Communication established • Source meter initialization strings and codes • Shutdown procedure • Documenting setup procedures and progress

  8. What is next? • Translate and export data as .txt files (ASCII) • User friendly commands • Reset setup preferences • Pause/Stop data collection
