  3. 1. Control the width Move out wide to open the attacking width and draw defenders out from the goal. Team Skills - Attacking 2. Control the depth Create depth in the attack by not pushing forward as a straight line (diamond best). 3. Mobility off the ball Keep moving when off the ball to gain the best position. “Pass and go” a critical skill. 4. Penetration Create incisive runs into the box, both with the ball and without (to receive). 5. Creativity Think creatively and do the unexpected to catch the other team off guard.

  4. 1. Control the depth Control the oppositions space and freedom by pushing up. Stay close to your midfielders. Team Skills - Defending 2. Delay Closest player should delay attack to allow defenders to get into position. Sucked in, mate! 3. Concentration Concentrate number of bodies behind the ball to protect the goal. Get back quickly. 4. Balance Ensure balance across the defensive area. Shift across to manage attacks on wings. 5. Control & restrain Don’t rush in! Jockey and watch the ball. Only commit when sure of winning ball.

  8. GAME Technique GGame - Get them into a small sided game or drill AAssess - Assess what they are doing MModify - Modify behaviour by freezing game & workshopping EEncourage - Encourage and praise when they get it right

  9. 3 factors you can control: • Size & structure of playing area • Number of players • Rules Bigger, smaller, zones, goals, no goals, obstacles 1 v 1, 2 v 1, 2 v 2, 2 v 3 4 v 4, 5 v 4, 5 v 5, 5 v 2 Scoring, no tackles, # of passes, points for behaviours Increase or decrease pressure
