  2. Course Objectives • To apply mathematical concepts to different situations • To complete mathematical computations accurately • To understand connections between numerical forms • To explain concepts through different modalities

  3. Topics of Study

  4. Materials • Course 2 textbook (Holt) or Pre-Algebra textbook (Holt) • Math notebook • Math folder • Pencil • Colored pen • Calculator (TI-30XIIS or TI-30XIIB)

  5. Grading Math grades will be based on the following types of activities: • Homework • Class work & Projects • Quizzes & Tests

  6. Grading Scale A 90 – 100% B 80 – 89% C 70 – 79% D 60 – 69% F 59% ↓

  7. Extra Credit Extra Credit opportunities will be offered at various times throughout each quarter. Take advantage of these opportunities when they occur – you never know if you will have another chance to earn extra points!!!

  8. Corrections • Any assignment with a grade below a C will be given a NOT YET. These assignments must be corrected.

  9. Absences • If you know you will be missing class, tell me as soon as possible. The sooner you get your make-up work, the better! • After an absence, collect your work from the appropriate bin in the back of the room. • You have 1 day for every day absent to turn in your work before it is counted late.

  10. Late Assignments • Late work will be deducted by 10% each day it is late, up to 50% off. • Late work can be turned in at any time throughout each quarter. • Work can not be completed for previous quarters. • Certain assignments may not be able to be turned in late!

  11. ZAP! • A ZAP form must be filled out for every missing assignment. It will be taken home to be signed by a parent or guardian. • ZAP forms must be turned in the next day with the completed assignments. • If a ZAP form is not turned in the next day with the completed assignment, the student will call home to report the missing work.
