  6. Geography of Europe AD 476 Germanic invaders overthrew the last Roman emperor. This began the Middle Ages (Period between Ancient   and Modern times) Western Europe was divided into many kingdoms Christianity still practiced. Europe is a peninsula. Close to the sea. Trade is key.

Settled near France & Germany. • 481 King Clovis accepts Catholic Christianity. • 714 Charles Martel becomes the mayor ofthe Palace. • Wants to strengthen Christianity, stop thespread of Islam. (Battle of Tours) 732 • Martel’s son Pepin becomes King of the Franks.
