HIGHLIGHT OF PLANS • Achieving a target of 250mT of seeds • Review and re-design of operational areas • Community mobilization and awareness creation • Supply of resources and logistics for field operations • Review of key messages (checklist & best practice guidelines) • Radio broadcast to educate farmers on project messages • Establishment of market centres for purchasing seeds • Training of selected FPs in book-keeping and business skills • Evacuation of seeds from FPs storage facilities • Processing of AB seeds into oil Novel Development Ghana

Reasons for not achieving target • Inability of FPs to cover remote areas and cottages to purchase seeds from farmers • Misinformation with regards to fruiting of trees • Challenge of seed collection by farmers from remotely located trees • Effective and real-time information flow along supply chain • Regular follow-up and community visits by NEXT Officers • Complain of low motivation by focal persons Novel Development Ghana

RESULTS • 106 mT of seeds purchased • 21 mT of seeds processed and shipped to-date • Increased income for collectors and FPs • Engagement of dedicated AB Oil processor – Vester Oil Mills • Distribution of handgloves to over 1,875 farmers • Quality assurance and control improved • Confidence and focused farmer participation • Increased awareness about conservation of natural resources • Sustained participation of women Novel Development Ghana
