  2. Weather vs. Climate • Weather is a description of the day-to-day changes in temperature, precipitation, cloud cover, wind speed and direction, and other atmospheric phenomena. (what’s the weather like today?) • Climate is the average of all the factors that contribute to weather, but calculated over many years. (I want to move south to Florida for its warmer climate)

  10. Biomes A biome is a region described by a particular type of vegetation and caused by a particular climate (average temperature and precipitation).--temperate deciduous forest-- northern coniferous forest.-- prairie.-- desert.-- chaparral-- tundra-- tropical rain forest.

  11. Aquatic Life Zones An aquatic life zone is the equivalent of a biome underwater, but is determined by the type of water (fresh or salt), depth, and presence of a bottom or of sunlight.
