  2. What is Scabies? • Scabies is a parasitic infestation that pertains to the top layer of skin • Causes a red rash and creates an annoying itch • The cause is a small mite that burrows under the skin

  3. Signs and Symptoms • Red rash • Itching • Crustiness • Prevalence of symptoms

  4. Diagnosing • Many tests must be run using oils and then scrutinized to try to find any evidence of Scabies infestation

  5. Treatment • Involves a topical ointment to effectively kill all mites and eggs • Lotion runs for $30.00

  6. Prevention • There is no proven way to avoid contracting scabies if you are involved with an infested person. • The only way to avoid scabies is to avoid anyone with the parasite. • Not even a condom can save you now.
