  4. Definition Building • Divide text or powerpoint material into bullets • Rank them by order of importance • Translate these points in sentence(s) using your own words. • Insert examples in the definition Week 5. Quiz Preparations

Best way to prepare for Quiz • First realize it is short (about 20 minutes) • Second review all Lectures and your notes • Third review your assignments, especially definitions • Fourth review your very short reading on GIS • Fifth check-out Some Definitions and all else on the Web Page Week 5. Specific Preparation for quiz • Electronic Atlas – review notes and be able to define and describe – especially limitations • Thematic Mapper – again review and now focus on how this is better then a Electronic Atlas • GIS – review notes for a good definition, compare it to the above 2 items, and be sure that you have done the reading Week 5. ArcMap GIS • Be sure to review all of the “arc-speak”, ArcMap icons and operations like: • various windows such as Data View, Attribute Table, Layout View… • Tools to use in a view window including inserting a legend and changing display with Properties & Symbols • How to make a final map for a document (i.e. jpeg) • Image vs Feature Data, Data layers and Data Frames Week 5.
