  2. ROTARY INTERNATIONAL 10 March 2012 To the Presidents-elect Rotary District 3820 Dear fellow Rotarians, Welcome to your presidents-elect training seminar, where you will begin to prepare for the most important job in all of Rotary: the job of Rotary club president. When a club president is qualified and knowledgeable, the club’s members have a great advantage. They know where to go with questions. They have a strong presence in their club, and an important resource at every club meeting. And they have a source not only of information, but of the enthusiasm that is so necessary to help a club achieve. In Rotary, enthusiasm is contagious. When a club president is enthusiastic, the members feel it. Their ambition and their motivation grow. They accomplish more, and they set their goals higher. A good club president challenges the club’s members. Then, the club’s members want to challenge themselves. I love the word “challenge.” I always say, you won’t know until you try. This is true in business, and it is also true in Rotary service. Instead of looking for a reason why you can not do something, look for a way that you can. Don’t worry about failure. Focus on success. In this Rotary year, challenge yourself to be your very best—and challenge the Rotarians in your club as well. They will rise to meet your expectations—and you will rise to meet your own. I give you my best wishes for a productive and successful PETS, and a wonderful Rotary year. Yours in Rotary, Sakuji Tanaka President, 2012-2013 2 PESETS 2012
