Research Background • Interview with teachers (Nuffield School, Kaithady) • - Using the Braille Typewriter • - No Braille system to get the Braille printed materials • - Difficulties in learning in other languages • - Feeling hard to type in Tamil through the keyboard • - Printed papers are no longer to use

Main Objectives To allow Tamil blind people to type in Thanglish using a normal keyboard To get Braille embossed printouts Increase the usage of computer among blind people To allow users to import Tamil documents from other sources Sub Objectives Increase education among Tamil blind people Braille printers instead Braille Typewriter Reduce wastage of time and rework

  5. System Digram Input: Tamil letters typed as English letters example:- Amma Device: Computer Thanglish will be Converted to Tamil letters Device: Braille printer Tamil letters will be converted To braille letters Embossed printouts

  6. Expected Results • Tamil blind people or normal Tamil people can type in Thanglish • Getting embossed printouts. • Import Tamil document in txt format from any website • Voice recognizer as user input • Narrator [English / Tamil]

  7. Benefits • Expanding literacy Options • Parents help for child development skills. • Increase the use of Tamil braille system • Students can manipulate text ( go back and reread, bookmark, scan, etc.) • Braille materials are portable
