  1. Congestion Management Working Group:Update to WMS Mark Soutter July 8th, 2015

  2. CMWG meeting of June 29th • Dynamic Line Rating Telemetry Procedures • Notice of GTLs Related to New Generation Interconnection • Other business • Future CRR market updates • Managing Voltage Stability Limits

  3. Dynamic Line Rating Telemetry Procedures • CMWG was tasked with reviewing current procedures and making suggestions for potential improvements • Current process: • Dynamic limits – static rating table modified by ambient conditions • Twice weekly, ERCOT tool looks for difference between dynamic ratings table and telemetry(looking for difference of more that 15%) • Temperature is not necessarily the only determinate for TSPs in real-time • Strain gauges, wind speed, wind direction can also be used • If ERCOT sees a constraint, the ratings are checked prior to activating the constraint

  4. Dynamic Line Rating Telemetry Procedures • Long term solution will be in place in August • Part of EMS R4 • Production tool will be doing a similar comparison, but will be running in real-time • As opposed to twice a week like the interim solution

  5. Notice of GTLs Related to New Generation Interconnection • CMWG will be circulating an Issues List via the email exploder • What should trigger a market notice • Which information should be included • What steps need to be taken to protect the Interconnecting Entity’s confidentiality • CMWG may propose a stand-alone PGRR to address the issue instead of through PGRR 044

  6. Other issues • LTAS results will be out on or before July 16th – the next CMWG update will include an analysis on the Impact of NPRR779 • Is there a way to give a proper price signal to folks who are solving a stability problem?
