Green Logistics Management – Know Why? • EU Regional Strategy Paper for Assistance to Central Asia one core objective is: • “to facilitate closer regional cooperation between Central Asia and the EU, particularly in the energy, transport, higher education and environmental sectors. …supporting these countries in enforcing best customs practices as set by the World Customs Organisation; support initiatives for know-how transfer and capacity building.” • Green Transport Corridor Concept of the European Commission aiming at strengthening efficiency of the global logistics sector through sustainable competence building and efficient cross-border approach.

China Trans-Eurasia Land Transport - Potential • Available infrastructure - huge potential via Trans-Siberian Railway (TSR) • Nowadays mostly is used to a limited extent for the purpose of intercontinental transportation • Four of 35 Asian countries dominate the rail-freight scene: • China, Russia, India, and Kazakhstan account for 97,5% of tone/km • Transported volumes via TSR increased by annual average of 50% since 1999 to ca. 0,5 MIO TEU: • ca. 0,4 MIO TEU (Russia / China trade) • Ca. 0,1 MIO TEU (transit goods Europe / China)

ERASMUS+ CBHE • Development and implementation of Master Programme ”Green Logistics Management" in partner Universities in KZ and RU by Sept 2017; • 7-10 students from each partner universities shall enter implemented Master programme in Sept 2017 • Bringing academic content at relevant faculties in Partner Universities in Logistics Management and ICT to the EU standards and Bologna process herewith promoting internationalization of HEI in KZ, RU • Ensure practice related knowledge transfer to teaching staff; provide cross-regional experience-exchange among teaching staff, students, and businesspeople
