Grade B Most will be able to explain the importance of reconciliation in Islam using the journey of Hajj to provide examples.   4. Islam and forgiveness and reconciliation… Islam (like Christianity) teaches that conflicts should be resolved by forgiveness and reconciliation. • Match up the quotes with the correct meanings and write a short summary of Muslim beliefs on forgiveness and reconciliation.

  7. One of the names for Allah is MERCIFUL Muslims are taught that if they realise they have done wrong and promise not to do the same again they will be forgiven by Allah (He will show MERCY).

  8. On the day of judgement Allah will show forgiveness and mercy to.... ...those who show mercy and forgiveness to their fellow humans. Muslims are taught that if they want to go to paradise on the Day of Judgment they must have shown mercy/forgiveness to others.

There are many teachings in the Qur’an about forgiveness and reconciliation.... ‘If a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from God’ (Surah 42:40) ‘A kind word with forgiveness is better than charity followed by injury’ (Surah 2:263) These mean... The Qur’an is full of passages about the forgiveness of Allah and of his instructions that Muslims should also forgive. It is important they follow the will of Allah. ‘Live as fellow brothers and sisters, as Allah has commended you’ (Hadith)

  13. Before going on Hajj A Muslim is expected to purify themselves. As part of this they must make peace with those they have fallen out with and ask for forgiveness from those they we have wronged. The IHRAM worn are a symbol of this purity. All Muslims wear the same to show equality and brotherhood as part of the UMMAH (The worldwide Muslim community). IHRAM = a state of being sacred. The white robes show equality and selflessness.

  14. Mount Mercy On the 2nd day of the pilgrimage known as the "Day of Arafat” the pilgrims spend the entire day standing (or sitting) near the Mount of Mercy, asking Allah for forgiveness and making supplications.

  15. Stoning of the Devil While this ritual does signify the defiance of the devil, Muslims keep reciting the praises of Allah and ask for forgiveness throughout.
