  2. This is Grandma. She is an excellent baker. Grandma loves to bake homemade treats for her grandchildren.

  3. Grandma has 6 grandchildren!

  4. Grandma has 6 grandchildren! Depending on their schedule, some days only three grandchildren come to visit Grandma.

  5. On some days, five grandchildren come for a visit.

  6. On very special days, all six grandchildren come for a visit!

  7. To prepare for her grandchildren's visit, Grandma bakes a delicious chocolate cake with strawberry and custard icing.

  8. On this afternoon, Grandma has forgotten whether 3, 5, or all 6 of her grandchildren will be coming for a visit. She wants all of the cake eaten and each grandchild to get the same amount of cake. To prepare for all three possibilities, what is the smallest number of pieces into which she should cut the cake? Record your solution in your notebook and justify your thinking using words, visual, and/or numbers.
