  5. TYPES OF SCULPTURE: FREESTANDING: surrounded by space on all sides. RELIEF: a type of sculpture in which forms and figures are projected from the front only.

  6. METHODS OF SCULPTING: • CARVING. • CASTING. • MODELING. • ASSEMBLING.

  7. CARVING: • The sculptor starts with a block of material (often stone) and cuts or chips a shape from it.

  8. CASTING: • The sculptor starts by making a mold. Then, a liquid or melted metal are poured into it and it hardens.

  9. MODELING: • The sculptor builds up and shapes a soft material like clay.

  10. ASSEMBLING: • The sculptor joins materials together by gluing or other methods.

  11. ADDITIVE: • The artist adds together or builds up the material.

  12. SUBTRACTIVE: • The artist takes away or removes material.
