NCs you plan to co-host or work with: Plan to work with other National Committees

  5. Iran Topic Proposal: Sharing the Best Practice of IOR & EOR - Technology Transfer & the Challenges/IOR & EOR Technology Transfer Number of days: 2 Possible dates: May 2019 Outline of topic/challenge: Iran, with a record of over one century of oil production, is currently one of the major oil producing countries of the world.According to I.R .Iran oil ministry 20 years plan and overview plan, following targets must be achieved:• Capacity building for 5.7 million bbl production per day • Increasing in natural gas production to 900 million cubic meter per day • Supply 100 million cubic meter per day natural gas for consumption in industrial Sector.Currently, above 80 percent of Iran’s active oil fields are in their second half-life. So, Iran has introduced 52 oil and gas fields and 18 exploration blocks for foreigners to be developed. Some of these oil fields have experienced an annual depletion in productivity between 9 to 11 percent which can be enhanced by secondary or tertiary recovery. Considering that most of the reservoirs are of the carbonated fractured type containing heavy crude, the selection of the optimum secondary or tertiary recovery method is of great importance.Increasing the recovery rate of oil by injecting gas and polymer or water flooding can increase the life of field, production volume and cumulative output relatively, but Iran needs new technology, modern studies and new method of drillings, etc to boost the recovery rate of fields. Considering that, adding a percent on Iran’s average oil recovery rate equals producing more 7-8 billion barrels of oil. NCs you plan to co-host or work with: To be confirmed

  6. Iran Topic Proposal: Cost Benefit Analysis of HSE Area in Oil Industry Number of days: 1 Possible dates: May 2020 Outline of topic/challenge: Reducing Risks, Protecting People, discusses reasonable practicability and affirms the expectation that risk reduction action is to be taken using established relevant good practice as a baseline. Where relevant good practice is a good fit to the circumstances, then decisions on risk reduction action are straightforward. In circumstances where established good practice does not exist, is out of date or the situation is complex and the relevance of individual good practices is questionable (e.g. the combination of discrete hazards is not foreseen in the good practice documents), the decision making process on risk reduction action is less straightforward. Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) aids the decision making process by giving monetary values to the costs and benefits and to enable a comparison of like quantities. HSE’s main interest in assessing CBAs is to ensure that all the appropriate costs have been included and to challenge where costs appear extraneous or excessive. NCs you plan to co-host or work with: To be confirmed

  7. Romania Topic Proposal: HC Increasing Recovery Efficiency in the Mature Fields. Methods and Technology for cooperation Number of days: 1.5 days Possible dates: Q4 2019 - Q1 2020 tbd Outline of topic/challenge: In the process of the Maximizing Asset Value the "HC increasing recovery efficiency in the mature fields" represents a basic and a priority goal. An International WPC Expert Workshop including Methods and Technology for cooperation in the mentioned field will share the knowledge for the petroleum business growth. NCs you plan to co-host or work with: US WPC, UK WPC, Norway WPC, Canada WPC, France WPC, Russian WPC Committees

  8. Spain Topic Proposal: Challenges of the European Refining Industry in a Global Market. 3rd Edition Number of days: 1 Possible dates: May – June 2020 Outline of topic/challenge: In 2013, the Spanish Committee for the WPC organized the first Edition of the WPC Expert Workshop entitled “Global Challenges of the European Refining Industry in a Global Market”. A second edition was celebrated in November 2016.Both events were very succesfull in terms of speakers and audience, with 21 speakers and 120 participants in the first edition, and 19 speakers and over 100 participants in the second edition. For the 3rd edition, the objective would be to present the changes and unexpected events that have taken place in the Energy Sector and the Oil Industry for the last three years, and the impact of this evolution in the European Refining Industry as well as new challenges arising on the European market. The issues to be covered would be analyzed not only from the industry point of view but also from a government and regulatory perspective. Some subjects to be analysed, among others:* The actual European Refining Landscape;* Main challenges of optimizing operations and margin improvement in the refining sector;* European Refining Regulatory situation* How downstream business is redefining itself* What are the global refining perspectives NCs you plan to co-host or work with: European NCs

  9. Sudan Topic Proposal: Innovation Solutions to Optimize OPEX and Increase Production Number of days: 1 Possible dates: Q1 2019 Outline of topic/challenge: The Oil and gas industry’s current focus is on operational excellence means to reduce costs while boosting productivity. The industry is challenged with becoming more efficient while optimizing cost and increasing productivity and profitability. Therefore, managing investments in a smart and efficient way and giving a chance for innovative solutions in the industry to take place is the main solution to recover. NCs you plan to co-host or work with: Chinese National Committee

  10. The Netherlands Topic Proposal: Oil and Gas Industry as Key Players in the Energy Transition Number of days: 2 Possible dates: H2 2019 Outline of topic/challenge: As countries are aiming to implement the commitments of the Paris agreement, the oil and gas industry is in the middle of the energy transition. Oil and gas will still play a role for many decades, while low carbon options (e.g. Hydrogen) are being introduced to the market and assets are being decarbonized (e.g. through CCS). Coordination and collaboration with governments and other industries will be needed to manage new infrastructure requirements. The aim of the 2day workshop is to share (non- competitively sensitive) insights on the role of oil and gas in the transition (1 day) as well as the role of governments (1 day). NCs you plan to co-host or work with: Very happy to collaborate, potential partner NCs will be approached - also happy to be contacted if an NC is interested

  11. United Kingdom Topic Proposal: Financing Challenges for an Energy Industry in Transition Number of days: 1 Possible dates: March – May 2020 Outline of topic/challenge: The global energy industry is currently facing an accelerating transition which is impacting on the manner in which most sources of energy are supplied and consumed. Changes are happening fast. The energy mix is increasingly incorporating a range of lower carbon sources, driven mainly by a combination of environmental considerations, technological developments, geopolitical pressures and population demographics.Such fundamental changes are transforming the economics of the traditional oil and gas business, which presents major challenges in terms of future strategies, long term investment and financing of ALL segments of the energy industry. The rapid growth of the diverse range of renewable energy sources, with a growing share of primary supply, will require innovative and cost-effective sources of equity and debt finance. This will necessitate a deep understanding of the various technical and operational risks involved, as well as a deep understanding of local and regional markets. Financing challenges for traditional oil and gas investments will intensify against competition for finance from new energies, the background of global population growth, the need to eliminate poverty and the industry commitment to provide clean and efficient supply including integrated gas developments. In response to recent financial regulatory changes and new policies, a number of energy banks, multi-lateral agencies and institutional investors have reduced their exposure to the traditional oil and gas sector. This trend will encourage new groups of lenders such as activist investment funds, private investors and sovereign wealth funds to support the future financing of the traditional segment. The UK National Committee of the World Petroleum Council, in partnership with the Energy Institute, will host a one-day symposium where finance and energy industry experts will address these challenges and will discuss financial solutions that will facilitate the development of the future energy mix to meet consumers’ requirements. NCs you plan to co-host or work with: Happy to work with other National Committees
