Explain what is meant by the term target zone The range within which an individual needs to work for aerobic training to take place 60 – 80% of maximum heart rate (1) b) If John is 16 years old explain how he would calculate his target zone Max HR = 220 – age, so 220 – 16 = 204 60% of 204 and 80% of 204 60% = 123 – 80% = 164 (1) (2)
