  1. QTOR Magnetic Verification L.Lee (July/2007) • Magnetic Verification Measurements: • Measure zero-crossings (yZX) of specific B-field components Model sensitivities (zero-crossings vs coil positions), M : {dxCOIL/dyZX } Measure zero-crossings/deviations : {dyZX} Extract coil misalignments: M • dyZX dxCOIL Time estimate for basic Zero-Crossing measurement (one full set): 3 days Mapping/Scanning Strategy  Peiqing Wang’s presentation Mapper/Gantry Base hardware: Available; Needs to be disassembled, shipped, reassembled; Base software: Available; Needs retuning and updated parameter files; New/modified collision-avoidance software needs testing (existing collision-avoidance routines should work, but more tedious); Miscellaneous Items Footpads (6): Needed at QTOR upstream and downstream positions (for gantry); In progress; Install into floor after gantry arrives at Bates; Hall Probes: Existing gantry probes will be used for zero-crossing scans; 2 spare probes (3R100-3-5) from K.Dow available for auxilliary scans; Alternate arm-extension for spare probe needed;

  2. Mapper/Gantry Schedule (2007) : • Jul 23-30 Gantry Breakdown & Shipping[UIUC: Larry/Tom/Don] Assess state of gantry (identify repairs, where needed) Assess state of gantry computer and specialized PCI-cards (OS, disk upgrades?) Rationalize electronics & decable gantry (boom-tower & tower-base cable runs) Disassemble gantry into main components Pack/Crate up gantry Load gantry onto shipping truck • Aug 4-11 Gantry Recommissioning[Bates: Des/Tom/Don + Bates staff] Reassemble gantry Reconnect electronics Mount gantry onto upstream footpads Retune motor controller setpoints Exercise gantry hardware and software Early Sep Gantry Recalibration Gantry motion/orthogonality tests Gantry recalibration (Laser Tracker; Hexagon Metrology: $5600) Zero-crossing “practice” scans (using misc available magnets) Oct/Nov Zero-Crossing Measurements Low power zero-crossing scans High power zero-crossing scans Adjust coils and iterate where/if necessary

  3. Software Upgrade: Discussed at previous collab. Meeting Collision-avoidance software  existing code should work, but more tedious (fallback plan) New collision-avoidance sub-VI written (Don Jones)  tailored to QTOR geom, not tested Old sub-VI : Based on trapezoidal zones New sub-VI : Tailored to QTOR geom
