  2. What is in a sentence? Sentence = + Subject + verb _ .

  4. What if there is no subject? -1 Basically, if there is no subject, it is not a sentence. Examples: Ilivein the city. - This is a sentence. livein the city. - Not a sentence

  5. What if there is no subject? - 2 • In the Imperative form (=ציווי ) , we omit the subject because we give orders to another person whom we know (YOU). Examples: Youdrink yourtea (every morning). - Affirmative Drink yourtea! - Imperative (A command)

  6. What can be a subject? • A subject can be a noun or pronoun, in the singular or in the plural. Examples: Noun (singular) – a chair, a bus, a baby, a child Nouns (plural) – chairs, buses, babies, children Pronouns – I, you, he, she, it (singular) we, you, they (plural)

  7. What else is in the subject? • The subject can include more details about the person/object who does it. Examples: The big yellow school bustakes us to school. Many young peopleuse the computer.

  9. What is a verb? -1 • A verb can be an action. Examples: Hewalksto school every day. Theyare eatingin a restaurant.

  10. What is a verb? -2 • A verb can show a state of mind / feelings. Example: I hateto wake up in the morning. He wantsto be a doctor.

  11. What is a verb? -3 • A verb can show a state of being Example: Iama human being. Heisa good man. Shehasa car. My parentshavea new car.

  12. What if there is no verb? If there is no verb, it is not a sentence. Examples: Ilivein the city. - This is a sentence. I in the city. - Not a sentence

  14. Word order - 1 • In a sentence, the verb comes after the subject. 1. DannylikesDina. Danny is the subject. (He likes her.) 2. Dinalikes Danny . Dina is the subject. (She likes him).

  15. The frame Now, that you got the picture, don’t forget the frame: • A sentences starts with a CAPITAL letter. • It ends with a full stop ( .)an exclamation mark ( ! )or – question mark ( ? ) .
