When we loose the ball in the final third: When the ball “arrives” at the “line of confrontation” at ¾ field, either through a dribble by the opponent or a vertical pass, the front line moves into a “pressure and cover” action on the ball. The “high” striker keeps working to prevent a “switch” to the other side of the field. K Line of confrontation. Elder Cholo German Tapia Line of defense. Tonio Dalton 30 X 40 Yard Defensive Block Torres Nestor Espinoza Nick K Ricardo Our nearest player to the ball should pressure it to slow him down. Try to make his head go down. Make him play backwards or sideways. 2. The rest of the team moves to get behind the ball, “dropping-off” into a 4-2-3 defensive block. Each player can mark an opponent who is in his “area”. 3. The block should be 30 X 40 Yards. It “starts” at the ¾ field line and ”ends” about 10 Yards behind the center stripe. 4. As the other team passes the ball, the entire block moves with the ball. When the ball is passed each player releases his mark, shifts and marks any opponent who is in his “new area”.
