  2. Irish Autism Action: Our Impact A membership consultation initiative to be undertaken on behalf of Irish Autism Action by independent consultants Sandra Velthuis (Whitebarn Consulting) and Sheila Cahill (Sheila Cahill Consulting).

  3. Goals of the project • To ensure Irish Autism Action (IAA) is accountable to its members • To introduce members to concept of social impact • To give members a chance to have their say • To find out what impact members think IAA should be having • To gather evidence of IAA’s impact so far

  4. What do we mean by impact? The impact of any organisation is the CHANGE that it brings about for its intended BENEFICIARIES

  5. Reasons to think about impact (1) • Making sure we have a clear purpose that is agreed by everyone • Making sure we are doing the right things to bring about the change we want • Making sure we know what works and what doesn’t work • Making sure we are making the best of the resources we have

  6. Reasons to think about impact (2) • Making sure that we are being accountable to our members • Demonstrating impact enhances our reputation • Demonstrating impact helps us to secure funding and support

  7. Project Plan There are two elements to the membership consultation initiative: • Five member consultation meetings to be held in different parts of the country • Written submissions for anyone unable to attend a consultation meeting

  8. Consultation questions • What difference has Irish Autism Action made to you or to others? • What could Irish Autism Action be doing to have even greater social impact?

  9. Consultation meetings • Monday 3 September,: Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny • Tuesday 4 September: Clayton Hotel, Galway • Wednesday 5 September: Clarion Hotel, Cork • Thursday 6 September: Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise • Thursday 13 September: Red Cow Moran Hotel, Dublin

  10. Consultation meetings • All meetings will take place from 7pm – 9pm • Please indicate if you plan to attend (044 – 933 1609 or info@autismieland.ie).

  11. Written submissions • Anyone unable to attend a consultation meeting is invited to forward their views in writing until Friday 14 September. • Please send an email to contact@whitebarn.info or put a note in the post to Sandra Velthuis, Whitebarn Consulting, 43 Whitebarn Road, Dublin 14.

  12. Project report • The independent consultants will present a report to IAA in early October to include recommendations for future action. • They will use all the information they receive from members, but will not attribute opinions to individual members in their report to Irish Autism Action.
