  4. The Plan • Question 1 • Are teens accessing the teen center technology lab? • How many and how often? • What is the accessibility of the lab and the software? • What is the accessibility of the Internet? • Do any of these teens have special needs?

  5. The Plan • Question 2 • Are teens having problems with the technology? • Is there a facilitator to help? • Is the software on an appropriate learning level for the teens? • Is the software labeled and easy to locate? • Are there problems with the software?

  12. Results • Current computers are old and outdated • Additional software for computers is only available for check out at TLC - Lake Charles. • In addition, the software is limited in variety and content.

  13. Results • Computer workstations are inadequate and not conducive to a comfortable work environment. • Current funding disproportionately favors TLC – Lake Charles, which leaves TLC – Sulphur with a poorly inadequate and non-accommodating technology lab.

  14. Recommendations • Upgrade computers and equipment to better meet the need of teens • Provide 13 new computers with Microsoft Office installed. • Provide 10 Printer/scanner/copiers. • Provide 5 surge protectors • Provide 2 digital cameras • Provide 13 headphones

  15. Recommendations • Expand software library to include greater variety of subject matter and content • Acquire one each per center: • Measurement and Scale • Weather and Climate • Forensics • Resume Writing Made Easy • Inspiration

  16. Recommendations • Make computer workstations more user-friendly • Provide 13 computer desks • Provide 13 computer chairs • Close the technology gap between TLC-Lake Charles and TLC-Sulphur
