The Crisis Team Exercise: Exploring Team Roles in Problem-Solving Strategies

The Crisis Team Exercise is an easy-to-administer and highly entertaining activity that reveals team roles as problem-solving strategies. The objective is to deepen and share understanding of team roles, illustrate predictabilities in outcomes, and facilitate relaxation and socialization. Participants form Crisis Teams, outlining in/out team roles, numbers, and tasks, with optional well-known person references. Discussion includes crisis types, preferred solutions, problem-solving strategies, resonance, and arrogance. Crisis types range from fictional to technical mishaps, each favoring distinct approaches. Suitable for small group settings, this exercise encourages teamwork, critical thinking, and communication skills development.
