Enhancing Pediatric Waiting Areas Through Interactive Design: The F.I.R.S.T. System

The F.I.R.S.T. System addresses critical issues in pediatric waiting areas, including prolonged waiting times, lack of engagement, and inadequate communication. By integrating fun, entertainment, and information, it creates a more inviting and educational environment for children and their families. Key features include an interactive ball pit with sensory technology, a responsive table for games like Tic Tac Toe, and informational displays on health and wellness. This innovative approach not only enhances the patient experience but also fosters a sense of community and reduces infection risks.
