  2. State bird is Cardinal The cardinal was selected in the year of 1963.It was selected because it is year round and it is the most commen .

  3. State flower is the dog wood The dog wood was selected in the year of 1941. It was selected because it is the most comen and is found in all regens of North carolina.

  4. State tree is the loblolly pine The loblolly was selected in the year of 1963.It was selected because it was the most common and it was used to build.

  5. State mineral is Gold Gold was selected in the year of 2011.It was selected because it was found in North Carolina.

  6. The state song is The old north state It was selected in the year of 1927.

  7. State seal/motto is Esse quam videri Esse quam videri means to be rather then to seem. The motto was selected in the year of 1983.It was selected because all the elements of the seal were important to North Carolina.

  8. The state flag/colors Red and blue were selected in the year of 1885.

  9. State dog is the plott hound It was selected in the year of 1989.It was selected because it is very quick on feet and with superior treeing instincts and has always been a favorite of big game hunters.

  10. State rock is the Granite The granite was selected in the year of 1979.It was selected because it is a symbol of strength and steadfastness witch are characteristics of North Carolina.
