  23. Remembering AFOREST • Using the A4 plain paper provided, write out AFOREST in bold colours, to help you to remember it in an exam – can you think of any examples to go with each technique?

  24. 5 Easy Points for success! • To achieve the best mark in Writing to Persuade (or Argue) in Paper 1, follow these easy points: • PAF • Five points • Order • AFOREST • Proof read

Time to Have a Go… • In pairs or threes, choose one of the example exam questions. • Write question in the middle of A3 paper. • In different colours, highlight or underline Purpose / Audience / Form. • Now write 5 points you want to make – as a spider diagram. • Number the points in the order you would discuss them in an exam. • AFOREST – decide where you can use the techniques and write examples next to each point.

  26. Individual Work • Now choose one point from your spider diagram • Write the paragraph, making sure you include at least one technique from AFOREST

  27. Proof Reading… • Swap paragraphs with your partner. • Now check for technical accuracy – you can lose points for careless errors! • Full stops / capital letters • Spelling • Other punctuation • Paragraphing • Vocabulary

  28. Homework • Using the planning techniques learned today, complete one of the writing tasks in full. • You should complete this in TIMED CONDITIONS (45 minutes) • DUE:
