Votran’s Gold Service is available to persons who are unable to use or access fixed-route bus service. Assistive devices such as wheelchair lifts and lowered steps for easy boarding access compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Votran drivers have special training in transporting persons with disabilities. Service is available throughout Volusia County for those who meet eligibility requirements. What is gold service?
Paratransit Shared-Ride Service is only available for individuals with a disability who cannot use VOTRAN regular bus service or are unable to obtain transportation through their own efforts or those of their household. Logisticare provides Medicaid trips in Volusia County Who is eligible?
While some people might prefer to use Gold Service rather than a fixed route bus, this specialized service is designed to assist those individuals who: Cannot access Votran regular fixed route bus service because of a disability Do not have fixed route service available at all In order to determine whether or not a person is best served with Votran Gold, an eligibility process has been established. Who is eligible?
Any resident of Volusia County may request a Para Transit Application form by calling Votran or securing one from of our web site (votran.org.) The Application must be completed (including signature) to be considered for transportation assistance. If an individual needs assistance completing the application, Votran staff is available to help. The completed application will be reviewed by Votran and a determination of eligibility will be made based on the information presented. A staff interview or functional assessment may be required to complete the process. VOTRAN will pay for the functional assessment as well as provide transportation to and from the evaluation, if necessary. The eligibility process can take up to twenty-one (21) days to complete. Documentation of the applicant’s limitation: disability vs. accessible transit with regard to their residential address. The funding agency is identified for each user. Votran has about 11,000 active Gold service users. Approximately 200 applications are processed each month. All applications are kept on file for a period of 7 years. Recertification is conducted every 3 years to determine if there are any changes affecting eligibility. Cooperating agencies provide mobility training: Center for the Visually Impaired, Conklin Center. Functional assessments are conducted by: Votran staff, Center for the Visually Impaired (blind and hearing conditions), and Seemor and Associates (complex/cognitive/physical conditions) Qualification review
