We Live and Walk By Faith Romans 1:17; 2 Corinthians 5:7 • John 8:24 “Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.“ • Romans 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ • Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him

Our Faith Is OftenTested By Fire • 1 Peter 1:7 …that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire… • James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. • Trials test us all (1 Cor. 3:13; Rev. 2:10; 3:10)

Our Faith Is Tested When That Which Is Commanded Seems Contrary To Reason • Noah was told to make an ark Gen. 6:13-22 • Moses was told to take a serpent by the tail Ex. 4:1-5 • Creation, the virgin birth, the resurrection and the end of the world may seem unreasonable doctrines, yet we accept them by faith

  5. Our Faith Is Tested When The Thing Commanded AppearsTo Be Wrong • Abraham was commanded to offer Isaac for a burnt offering. Gen. 22:1-13; Heb. 11:17-19; Rom. 4:12 • Peter was charged to "kill and eat" Acts 10:9-16,28 • We are to hate father, mother, etc. Lk. 14:26; Mt. 10:34-39

  6. Our Faith Is Tested When We Can See No Connection Between The Thing Commanded AndThe End Result • The Children of Israel were to march around Jericho. Josh. 6:1-21; Heb.11:30 • The man born blind was to wash in the pool of Siloam John. 9:1-7 • We are to be baptized "for the remission of sins” Acts 2:38; 22:16; Mk. 16:16; 1 Pet. 3:21

Our Faith Is Tested When God Commands Something Which Is Contrary To Man’s Law • Daniel and his friends refuse the Babylonian ways Daniel 1,3,6 • Peter and John refuse to stop preaching in the name of Jesus Acts 4-5 • The day may come when it will be illegal to practice some aspects of Christianity

Our Faith Is Tested When God Commands Something Which Is Contrary To Our Personal Preference • Naaman was told to wash seven times in the Jordan 2 Kings 5:10-14 • The rulers "loved the praise of men more than the praise of God' John 12:42-43 • Many prefer human authority to that of Christ, the social gospel to the gospel Of Christ, carnal entertainment to spiritual worship Mt. 28:18; Rom.1:16

  9. Life Is A Test • God seeks to test all of us (Jer. 11:20; 1 Cor. 13:5) • Will you pass the test (heaven), or fail (hell)?
