  3. SIMPLE SENTENCE • A SIMPLE SENTENCE CONTAINS ONE INDEPENDENT CLAUSE AND NO SUBORDINATE CLAUSES. • The hairstylist gave Patrice a new look. COMPOUND SENTENCE • A compound sentence contains two or more independent clauses and no subordinate clauses. • It is joined together by a coordinating conjunction: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so. • The clause are connected by a comma and a coordinating conjunction, or a semicolon, or a semi colon, conjunctive adverb, and a comma.
