  2. Credit Requirements • 13 credits to be a junior • 20 credits to be a senior • 28 credits in FRC to graduate

  3. Future Ready Core (FRC) • 4 credits of English (Eng. 1,2,3,4) • 4 math credits (Alg 1, Geometry, Alg. 2, Adv Math) • 3 social studies credits (World, Civics & Econ, US) • 3 science credits (earth & environ., Bio, a physical science) • Health & PE • 13 elective credits

  4. UNC System Schools Minimum Entrance Requirements • All FRC requirements, plus 2 years of a second language. • GPA requirements: 2.5 for all departments with the exception of nursing (2.7) • SAT 800/ACT 17 for general /undecided, liberal arts, education, behavioral & social sciences • SAT 870/ACT 18 for science & technology, business • SAT 900/ACT 20 for nursing

  5. Junior Year • Very important • If applying for early decision, it is the transcript at the end of the junior year that will be used for admission decisions • Colleges looking for academic rigor (honors, AP level courses) • Early release is discouraged! • SAT &ACT question of the day! • Class Rings

  6. Testing • PSAT, October 17 • Should take the SAT in December or early in the spring to establish a baseline (www.sat.org/register) • All juniors will take ACT during the school day on March 5th; no cost to student

  7. Becoming a Competitive College Applicant • GPA • Academic Rigor • SAT/ACT scores • Community Service

  8. NC Scholars • Unweighted GPA of 3.5 • ALL UNC System MAR, plus • Chemistry or Physics • 1 arts education class • 1 CTE class • 2 2nd level or advanced classes
