Presentation Transcript

  1. HEC-RAS 3.0 Input Dataand Demo Presented By: Kevin Donnelly

  2. HEC-RAS Data Requirements • Cross Section Geometry and Characteristics • Bridge and Culvert Information • Steady or Unsteady Flow Data • Plan Information

  3. Cross Section Geometry and Characteristics • Import UNET cross section data into RAS

  4. Cross Section Geometry and Characteristics • Export data to GIS using a modified version of the procedure developed by former graduate student, Eric Tate (Learn more during project final presentation) • Aligns cross sections with known points (ex. bridges) • Alignment and location was based upon Halff Associates location map

  5. Cross Section Geometry and Characteristics • Combine with 2-foot contour data and a 30-meter DEM erasing overlapping data • Generate a TIN (Triangular Irregular Network) creating a 3-D surface

  6. Cross Section Geometry and Characteristics

  7. Cross Section Geometry and Characteristics • Recut Cross Sections Using Geo-RAS • Import Cross Sections Into HEC-RAS

  8. Unsteady Flow Data • Import data from HEC-DSS file format • DSS file generated from LCRA Hydromet and gauge data • Four gauges used to set flow and stage boundary conditions at downstream and all upstream locations • Modeled heavy rain that occurred the first two weeks of November 2000

  9. Unsteady Flow Data
