HEC-RAS Version 3.1 Troubleshooting HEC-RAS Version 3.0 FY02
Troubleshooting with HEC-RAS • The User must carefully review the results to ensure that they adequately represent the study reach and that they are reasonable and consistent. • HEC-RAS software contains several features to assist the user in the development of a model; debugging problems; and review of results. HEC-RAS Version 3.0 FY02
Troubleshooting Features with HEC-RAS Includes: - Built in data checking. - An Errors, Warnings, and Notes system. - Computational Log Output File. - In addition, the user can use the graphical and tabular output to review the results and check data for reasonableness and consistency. HEC-RAS Version 3.0 FY02
Built in Data Checking • Checking the Data as it is Entered - Minimum and maximum range checking for variables. - Alpha and numeric data. - Increasing order of station for cross section, bridges deck/roadway, and abutments. - Data consistency checks. - Data deletion warnings. - File management warnings. - Data geometry checks. • Data Checking Before Computations are Preformed - Data completeness. - Data consistency. HEC-RAS Version 3.0 FY02
Errors, Warnings, and Notes • Errors - when there are problems that prevent the program to complete the run. • Warnings - warnings level message may required the user to take some action. - Cross Sections spaced to far apart. - Cross Sections starting and ending stations not high enough. - Bad Starting Water Surface Elevation. - Bad Cross Section Data. • Notes - provide information to the user about how the program is performing the computations.
