  2. Conjugating –AR verbs In Spanish, there are three categories of verbs. The category is determined by the last two letters of the infinitive: -ar verbs (like hablar)
-er verbs (like comer)
-ir verbs (like vivir) The infinitive is the base form of the verb, such as to speak, to eat, to live, etc. In Spanish, all infinitives end in -ar, -er, or -ir.

  3. Conjugating –AR verbs To conjugate a verb means to manipulate the infinitive so that it agrees with the different possible subjects. For example: I speak you speak he speaks/she speaks we speak you all speak they speak

  4. Conjugating –AR verbs In Spanish, in order to express who is doing the action, you have to change the verb from its infinitive form and add new endings.

  5. Conjugating –AR verbs The verb ending always indicates who is doing the action. Because of this, you can often use the verb without the subject. Subject pronouns are often used for emphasis or clarification.
