  6. WHERE & WHO »Occurred in North and South Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. »The United States entered the war to prevent a communists takeover of South Vietnam as part of our wider strategy for containment. »US involvement escalated in the early 1960’s because of we feared the “Domino Theory” of expanding communists empires. »North and South Vietnam were separated by a line in latitude called the 17th parallel. This was because north Vietnam sided with Russia and became communists where as Americans were helping and protecting South Korea from communism.

  7. ENDING OF THE WAR »The capture of Saigon by the north vietnamese marked the end of the war in April 1975. »After 16 deadly years of fighting the war the two countries signed a peace treaty ending the war in 1973 that stated that the United States forces would leave Vietnam. »The cause of the war ending was the US and Vietnam were going to sign a treaty but the Vietnamese screwed the US over. »The US ordered bombing of Hanoi and Haiphong causing Vietnam and the US to sign a Peace agreement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcWImawLW9E&feature=related
