  6. God Israel King Nations Narrator:1Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing? 2The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, Nations:3“Let us tear their fetters apart and cast away their cords from us!”

  7. God Israel King Nations Narrator:1Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing? 2The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the LORDand against His Anointed, saying, Nations:3“Let us tear their fetters apart and cast away their cords from us!”

  9. God Israel King Nations Narrator:4He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them. 5Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying, God:6“But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain.”

  10. God Israel King Nations Anointed:7“I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, God: ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You. 8Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession. 9You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.’”

  11. God Israel King Nations 2 Samuel 7:12-16: “When your days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me…

  12. God Israel King Nations 2 Samuel 7:12-16: “…when he commits iniquity, I will correct him with the rod of men and the strokes of the sons of men, but My loving-kindness shall not depart from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you. Your house and your kingdom shall endure before Me forever; your throne shall be established forever.”

  13. God Israel King Nations God’s Covenant with David “He shall build a house for my name”: this refers to Solomon, David’s son. “I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me”: Solomon would be God’s anointed king who would represent God. “Your house and your kingdom shall endure before me forever; your throne shall be established forever”: there will always be a descendent of David & Solomon who is the rightful king and thus God’s representative to the world.

  14. God Israel King Nations Anointed:7“I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, God: ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You. Hebrews 5:5 ESV: “So also Christ did not exalt himself to be made a high priest, but was appointed by him who said to him, ‘You are my Son, today I have begotten you.’” Psalm 2 is about Jesus!

  15. God Israel King Nations Anointed: 7“I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, God: ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You. Romans 1.1-4 [NIV]:“Paul… called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God-- the gospel he promised… regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life was a descendant of David, and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.”

  17. God Israel King Nations Narrator: 10Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth. 11Worship the LORD with reverence And rejoice with trembling. 12Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!

  18. God Israel King Nations Narrator: 12Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him! Matthew 26.63 [NIV]: “The high priest said to him, ‘I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.’”

  19. God God Israel Family King Man Nations Creation The same old rebellion repeated as Israel’s religious leaders conspired with the Romans to put their rightful king to death.

  20. God Israel King Nations Narrator:12Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him! Matthew 23.33 [NET]: [Jesus speaking to the Pharisees] “You snakes, you offspring of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?”
