Shippers Warehouse will consider these initiatives infuture industrial developments when possible • Light colored, reflective roofing on warehouse projects, which: • Helps reflect sunlight and reduces the “heat island” effect. Promotes more efficient HVAC usage. • Rainwater collection efforts • Create system to capture and collect rainwater runoff from the roof. • Water can then be used for a variety of purposes, including landscape maintenance or vehicle washing. • Consider contracting with some localities to use “Grey water” for landscape • upkeep. • Using partially treated waste water to feed lawns and shrubbery. This, plus rainwater recovery, can have a noticeable impact on overall water usage. • Attempt to use building materials suppliers located within the metropolitan Atlanta area instead of out-of-state suppliers – reduces the amount of mileage trucks need to travel to deliver materials. • Focus on materials that provide better climate management within warehouses and Distribution Centers. • Installations of ready rooms in packaging operations.
