California Workforce Association • A non-profit membership organization that develops public policy strategies and builds local capacity to address critical workforce issues • Represents 48 Workforce Investment Boards, over 200 One-Stop Career Centers and other workforce development partners in California

  4. Welcome and Introductions • CA State Librarian • CA Workforce Investment Board Executive Director • CA Workforce Association Chair

  5. Panel Presentation for WIB and Library Directors • One-Stops co-located in libraries • Formerly closed library Computer Center now opened as the Library Job Center using OneStop and library staff • Library literacy program paid by Workforce Development to improve skills of low performers

  6. Work in Groups with Community Partner (Libraries and WIB) • Identify Assets of each partner • How can services be enhanced to shared patrons/clients? • Non-duplication of services Asset Based Community Development

  7. Groups reported back on great ideas! • Libraries as incubators for small business entrepreneurs • Library book kiosks placed in OneStops with GED and test prep materials for checkout • Workforce and library staff to provide training for each other triage services
