  1. “HOW TO CALL A FOUL”

  2. “Your calls had better be super bowl calls…we don’t want to determine the outcome of the game unless it’s the most blatant thing you have seen.” Jerry Seeman NFL Referee (1975-1991)

  3. How do you Make “Super Bowl” calls? Is it as simple as seeing a foul and calling it? Or, are there more factors that need to taken into account before you call that foul?

  4. Factors For Calling A Foul -Pace -Advantage/Disadvantage (Affect the outcome of the play?) -See the whole play

  5. Factors, continued -Game Situation -Know the difference between “talk to” fouls and “flag” fouls -Don’t go looking for “boogers”. (Don’t call stupid fouls.)

  6. Factors, continued -Don’t go looking for fouls. Let the fouls come to you. -It better be on film.

  7. Remember… -Not calling something that should have been called is just as bad as calling something that should not have been called.

  8. Remember… “If you ever stop to say, “What’s going to happen to me if I make this call,” you might as well take your whistle and shove it, because that’s all the respect you’re giving it.” -Earl Strom NBA and ABA Referee (1957-1990)
