  3. D-B’s Tardy / Absence Policy Reminder Please remember that participation in prom and graduation ceremony are tied directly to attendance. Students who accrue instances of tardiness or absenteeism greater than 10% of the time in any one class will be ineligible for these activities.

  8. Dobyns-Bennett Playoff tickets on sale in the Athletic Office. They will be sold from 8:00 AM-3:00 PM, Monday - Thursday and 8:00 AM-1:00 PM on Friday.Reserved Season Ticket holders may purchase their seats on Monday and Tuesday.  On Wednesday all tickets are open to the general public.

  12. TENNESSEE GOVERNOR’S SCHOOL The State of Tennessee provides twelve summer programs for gifted and talented high school students. These programs provide challenging and intensive learning experiences in these disciplines: Arts, Agricultural Sciences, Business and IT Leadership, Computational Physics, Emerging Technologies, Engineering, Humanities, International Studies, Prospective Teachers, Sciences, Scientific Exploration of Tennessee Heritage, and Scientific Models and Data Analysis.  Governor’s School is open to current 10th and 11th grade students.Applications for the Tennessee Governor’s Schools are available in the Counseling office.  Applications must be returned to the Counseling office two weeks prior to the deadline set by the schools.  All applications are mailed by the Counseling office.  All other Governor’s School Applications are due to the Counseling Office by November 21.

  18. NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award Graduating Seniors who operate their own small business are eligible for the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award. Award: non-renewable scholarship. Range from $1,000 to $15,000. Apply online at www.NFIB.com/YEA Deadline: December 18th

University of Memphis Scholarships Merit-Based Scholarships – Students must have applied and been admitted by the December 1st deadline.  Award amounts vary by the scholarship granted but can range from $1,000 to $9,700 per year with additional benefits.   26. University of Miami George W. Jenkins Scholarship Award: tuition, fees, on-campus room and board, books, and personal expenses. Eligibility: High school graduate from Tennessee who has successfully overcome significant adversity, academic excellence, financial need, and community service. Honors College Scholarship The Buchanan Fellowship Award Eligibility: Apply to MTSU, high school GPA of at least 3.5, ACT composite score of at least 29 (SAT 1280), and completed Buchanan Fellows Application. Benefits: Full tuition (up to 16 hours), $1,000 book allowance, consideration for study abroad scholarships, support for graduate or professional schools. Nursing Scholarship Elks Lodge is offering a nursing award   Eligibility: High School Senior, GPA, proficiency in subjects essential to nursing curriculum, honors, desire for the profession, volunteer service.   31. Tennessee Concrete Association High School Essay Contest Award: $250 to $50. Rules: Open to high school students ages 16-18 at the beginning of the 2014 -15 school year, follow essay specifications.   38. Seniors planning to apply to University of Dayton Fall 2015 Contact your Counselor if you would like to be nominated for the Leadership in Service Scholarship. Award: $2,500 per year for 4 years. • Talk to your Counselor about the University of Dayton scholarship before January 31st for nomination.

  39. American Legion • Oratorical Contest Award: State level - $1,000 to $3,000, National level - $14,000 to $18,000 Eligible: students grades 9 – 12 Application is available in the D-B Counseling office. Deadline: Received by American Legion Nashville office by January  28th

  40. Tennessee School of Beauty  • C.B. Brown Scholarship Program Eligible: High school seniors, not previously or currently enrolled in a Cosmetology course.  For students interested in pursuing a career in cosmetology. Award: $14,995 Applications are available in the Counseling office and the Career Counseling office. Deadline: March 31st

  41. Blood drive November 7th - Room V-303 7:45 to 1:00 for students 7:45 to 2:00 for faculty/adults • Must have photo ID • Must be at least 17 • NO Tattoos or piercings within last year • NO colds, sore throat or flu symptoms for 3 days • Eat a good breakfast, including plenty of fluids!

  43. 10th Grade PLAN Assessment Wednesday, November 5th @ 7:45 • Testing Locations/Room Assignments will be posted outside the cafeteria beginning this Friday. • Students need to bring two #2 pencils and a calculator on test day.
