LIFE SKILLS CLASSES FOR JUVENILES • Requirement for juveniles sentenced to perform community service • Classes are held bi-monthly from 5:30-8:30 and juveniles receive credit towards community service for attending • Classes are held at the Municipal Court • Classes and presentations include: *Traffic Safety Class *Crimes and Consequences Class *Project Save (Stop Alcohol Violations Early) Class *Tobacco Effects
Partnership w/ other entities over 40 non-profit agencies for Community service Bilingual Traffic Safety Course for adults Defensive Driving Course Motorcycle Class - Provided by EPPD Officers and Safe Communities Program Child Safety Class-Provided by local County Hospital Alcohol Education Program for minors. Red Light Camera Program Implemented by EPPD on October 31, 2006 decrease in collisions by 50% Warrant Roundups with EPPD, and County Attorney’s office and declare an amnesty period Court Programs
Scofflaw Program – Inter-local agreement with County Tax Assessor and TXDOT to deny vehicle registration to warrant holders Court Collection Program Teen Court Program - Partnership with County Attorney’s office to refer juveniles Member of CJAC Neighborhood Leadership Academy- Municipal Clerk provides training and information about functions and services of the court Defensive Driving Certification for Municipal Court Staff and other City employees Other programs continued
