  2. Intro • Diaz is an Mexican- American war volunteer. • Also French intervention hero, an accomplished general. • Then a President of Mexico from 1876 to 1911.

  3. How He Was Famous • He Was a Cunning politician and knew very well how to Manipulate people to his advantage. • A phrase was used to describe the order of his rule was bread or beating which means take or die.

  4. Early life • Born on September 15, 1830, in Oaxaca, Mexico. • Diaz started training to be a priest at the age of 15. • Diaz decide to join the armed forces in 1846. He found his job and joined a band of Liberal guerrillas. • In 1850 Diaz entered the institute De Ciencias and started studying law.

  5. Life As A Military Man -Was known for his service in the “War Of Reform.” -Was also known for “Struggle Against French.” -Profirio Diaz was also in charge of the “Infantry Bridge.” -Profirio Diaz and his army had to fight off a larger group of French armies

Political Career • In 1870 Diaz ran as a presidential candidate against Juárez and vice president Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada. • 1870 Porfirio Díaz claims fraud in the July elections won by Juárez. • who was confirmed president by the congress in October after appointing him president on November 28, 1876.

  7. Death • Porfirio Diaz died at the age of 84 on July 2, 1915. • Porfirio Diaz died from old age.
