  1. foundation learning passport FLPassport was developed to replace E2EPassport - a widely-used web application that went live in 2004. The new application retains original concepts but moves forward with new features, design, structures and code base. FLPassport went live on 1st August 2010 but the development cycle continues.

  2. central concepts • focus • the learner is at the heart of Passport: identifying needs, planning and reviewing progress with them rather than for them • access • using the web means that the Passport program and data is always available to learners, advisers and administrators • ownership • because the learner is involved in creating and can access their Passport, it belongs to them • interaction • simple forms are designed to facilitate interaction between the learner and professionals working with them • transition • a learner’s Passport moves with them allowing a range of professionals and organisations to contribute • tracking • adviser and manager access keeps all informed and supports quality provision

  3. how does it work? • learner application … • with adviser unlock / caseload management • assess needs • set targets and plan programme • record achievements • collect evidence • review progress • maintain communication • plan transition • two applications • learner tools completed individually or with a tutor to support progression and transition • admin tools to manage caseloads, track learners and monitor progress • admin application • simple caseload functions like add, edit, delete, archive learners • view learners’ Passports • create advisers and view activity • move learners internally and externally • generate statistics, report and other functions - to be developed • see D200 admin to explore potential

  4. learner interface old tools / new tools simple & customisable to local needs some learner-only / others adviser & learner persistent menu more help by field and form double login … unlock

  7. admin interface add / edit / delete advisers overview tracking and monitoring executive learner caseload management move and archive … potential to include … referral … more statistics … exports features already exist in other apps

  8. moving forward • pilot • free month … no obligation • E2E logins will work • advisers can generate caseloads • feedback at all levels … • … and help to shape the application • further development • focus on admin • what do you want? • referral, transfer, export, stats, reports, finance, programme description, evaluation • nothing is ruled out • transition • E2EPassport … no new learners • fully active until January 2011 • FLPassport is live • no learners transferred • September = pilot month • continue? £250 plus VAT per organisation per year • or £1000 plus VAT per local area, eg NTyneside
