  3. New York - Football The Jets • Team Colors: Green , White • When they were first founded in 1960, their original name was the New York Titans. They played at the Polo Grounds, but the NY Giants Baseball team played here too. • Their stadium only lasted 3 years before they moved into Shea Stadium. But another NY baseball team (The Mets) also played there. • In 1968, they made a huge upset in the Super Bowl over the Colts. They crushed them 16-7. • In 1998, they won their first ever AFC title by going 12-4.

New York –Football The Giants • Team Colors: Blue ,White, Red • In 1933, the Giants lost the famous “1st Sudden Death Game”, 23-21 to the Chicago Bears. • In 1934, they got revenge on the Bears by beating them in the Championship Game. • In Super Bowl XXI and XXV, a couple of the Giants best players led them to Super Bowl victory. • In 2012, they beat New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

  5. New York - Football The Bills • Team colors: Red, White, and Blue • For the first 10 seasons, they played with the old AFL league called the Foolish Club • In 1964 and 1965, the Bills won the AFL championship. • From 1990-1993, they made the Super Bowl every year but lost all of them.

New York - Baseball The Yankees • The Yankees have won 27 World Series in their complete history, more than any other team. • The Yankees and the Dodgers were the fiercest rivalry in Major League Baseball at one time. In 1947, 1949, 1952, and 1953 they faced each other in the world series. All of them the Yanks won. But in 1955, the dodgers finally won • . • The Yanks have 17 total retired numbers. That means they had a lot of great players. Plus their all-time record is 9670-7361.Good team.

New York –Baseball The Mets • Founded in 1962, the Mets have also gone by the Metropolitans and the Amazin’s. • In 1964, the Mets moved into Shea Stadium that was located in Flushing Meadows which is part of New York City. It was demolished in 2009. • In their first year in 1962 they won only 40 games and lost 120. Seven years later in 1969 they won the World Series.

  8. Massachusetts-Football The Patriots • Team colors: Red, Silver, and Blue • In 1985, the Patriots lost the Super Bowl to the Chicago Bears. • In 2001, 2003, and 2004, the Patriots beat the Rams, Panthers, and Eagles in the Super Bowl.

Massachusetts- Baseball Boston Red Sox -The Red Sox’s name comes from the newly created White Sox and the old Cincinnati Red Stockings names. • In 1920, Harry Frazee traded Babe Ruth to the Yanks for cash to pay for a Broadway musical he was preforming. - In 2004, they finally won the World Series after not winning since 1918.

Pennsylvania-Football The Eagles • Team Colors: Green, Silver, Black, White • In 1948 and 1949, the Eagles won the NFL title by shutting out both of their opponents. • In 1960, they won the NFL title again and their star player played the whole game except for 2 minutes. • In 1980 and 2004, they lost the Super Bowl both years.

  11. Pennsylvania-Baseball The Phillies • The Phillies were once called the Phightin’ Phils. • From 1887 to 1938, the Phillies played in the Baker Bowl. • In 1961, the Phillies lost Major League record 23 straight games. • There fiercest rivalry is against the New York Mets.

  12. Maryland-Baseball The Orioles • Founded in 1901 as the Milwaukee Brewers. One year later, they moved to St. Louis and became the Browns. They latest in St. Louis until 1953 before moving to Baltimore. • From 1960 to 1975, their famous third baseman Brooks Robinson won 16 consecutive gold gloves, earning him the nickname, “The Human Vacuum Cleaner”. • In 1966, Frank Robinson, did one of baseball toughest feats by winning the triple crown. The triple crown is leading the league in home runs, runs batted in and batting average.
