To whom it may concern. I am hereby tendering my irrevocable resignation to the position of adult. I have decided to once again undertake the responsibility of being 10 or 15 years old. I want to go back to school with my cleaned and pressed uniform. I want my dog to wait for me by the door.

  2. I am hereby tendering my irrevocable resignation to the position of adult. I have decided to once again undertake the responsibility of being 10 or 15 years old. I want to go back to school with my cleaned and pressed uniform. I want my dog to wait for me by the door.

  3. I want to feel the emotion of pledging allegiance to the flag and singing the National Anthem. I want to stand in line. I want to go back home for lunch and eat a steak cooked by my mom.

  4. I want to do my homework at the kitchen table. I want to play in front of my house. I want for the front door to never be locked. I want to go to the ice cream truck on the corner, get a popsicle and for my dad to pay for it later.

  5. I want to watch Wood Woodpecker cartoons on TV. I want to wait for my dad to get home from work, always with a surprise. I want to get the groceries at the corner store. I want to see my mom clean what is already clean, sweep the stoop and chat with our neighbors. I want for my grandmother to tell me old tales from her childhood.

  6. I want to see my grandfather all serious as he fixes shoes. I want to fight with my sister, because I love her. I want to spend long afternoons at the movies with my mom, sister and cousins eating peanut butter sandwiches. I want to eat candy when the movie is over. I want to go to the beach for summer vacation.

  7. I want to spend my summers on the beach covered in sand, get red as a crab from sunburn, ride horseback and eat chicken from a spit, and fall like a sack of potatoes at night in my bed feeling the sea breeze. I want to play pirates and wage a savage water bomb war from house to house.

  8. I want to go to the circus in July. I want to listen respectfully as my doctor and teachers speak because they know more than I do. I want the sentry on the corner to look at me as I cross the street. I want to ride my bicycle and my skates.

  9. I want to go to the park and play with my friends. I want to get my entire family together for my birthday. I want to have a big table for Sunday dinners. I want the simple, everyday things. I want to go to sleep without thinking about tomorrow. .

  10. I want, at last, to return to my infancy, my innocence, my hope, and my country. I want to be happy.

  11. I hope that you enjoyed this as much as I did and that you distribute it to the members of our generation.
