  2. What To Talk About • Today I'm Going To Tell You About How We Catch Serial Killers • I'm Also Going To Tell you About A Few of the FBI Cases.

  3. Why This Topic? • I Chose This Topic Because I Think It’s Important To Be Informed About This. People Say We Live In Patrick County and It Could Never Happen To Us. • How Many Small Towns Does This Happen In Everyday? • Id Also Like To Let People Know How They Catch These Criminals.

  4. What Makes A Person Hurt Others • Most Of The Time People Hurt Others Because They Were Neglected As A Child or Abused. • They Think Very Differently Than Most People Do. • They Think That Everyone Should Be Punished Because Of What A Neighbor Or A Parent Have Done The Past.

  5. Why Do They Pick These Victims? • Usually They Pick Victims That They Think They Will Hurt More • They Want People To Hurt More Because Of How They Hurt When They Were Children.

  6. How Do We CatchThese Kinds Of Criminals. • They Usually Use FBI Profiling or Sometimes Forensic Science. • With The John Wayne Gacy Case, They Brought In A Psychic and That Helped Catch Him.

  7. Introduction • I'm Going To Tell You About The Horrifying Case Of Jeffery Dahmer • He Is A Man That Was Known To Have 17 Victims Ranging In Age Anywhere From 13 to 27 • There Was One Who Got Away And Saved More From This Rein Of Horror

Jeffery Dahmer’s Childhood • Jeffery Dahmer Was Born On May 21st,1960 In Milwaukee, Wisconsin • His Parents Were Joyce Dahmer and Lionel Dahmer • His Parents Said “He Began To Change After His Hernia Surgery When He Was Six. He Was A Normal Little Boy Until Then” • In 1966 The Dahmer Family Moved To Akron, Ohio. That Was When Things Really Got Bad Jeffery Developed A Hobby Of Collecting Road Kill

  10. A Criminal Is Born • Dahmer’s First Known Victim Was A Hitchhiker In June 1988 • Jeffery Stopped And Gave Him A Ride Back To His Apartment

  11. The Routine… • His Routine Was Pretty Much The Same. • He Would Usually Meet Them At A Mall Or A Bar.

  12. Konerak Sinthasomphone… • A Little Boy Named Konerak Sinthasomphone Was Thirteen Years Old. • But He Was Able To Fight And Get Out

  13. On The Loose • Once Outside, The Boy Started To Run Around In Circles • Two Neighbors Saw The Little Boy and Called The Police • When They Got There They Saw Dahmer And Asked What Was Going On

  14. Set Him Free • Jeffery Told Them That They Had A Little Disagreement On Some Things and Started Fighting • The Police Believed Him And Escorted The Boy Back To His Apartment • Konerak Sinthasomphone Died Just Minutes Later

  16. The ForensicsBehind CatchingCriminals • Usually Forensics Are Used When You Find A Deceased. • You First Examine The Bones Or The Body • YouThen Go To The Place That They Were Found And Look For Leads Of Exactly What Happened.

The Forensics Cont’d • The Person Must First Be Identified using DNA, Fingerprint, or Dental Analysis. • Then You Go To Their Family and/or Friends And Ask How Long They Have Been Missing and Who They Were Last Seen With. • Other Evidence Must Then Be Analyzed, Such As Fibers, Fluids, Or Other Particles Found at the Scene.

  18. The First FBI Profiler • This Is Alan Brantley • He Was The First Ever FBI Profiler. He Started In 1972.

  19. FBI Profiling Used To Catch Criminals • This Method Was Created By The FBI. • The First Phase Of This Method Is An Assimilation, • This Is Where All The Evidence And Photos From The Crime Scene Are Examined • Then They Make A Hypothesis About What Happened.

FBI Profiling Cont’d • Once We Have Our Hypothesis We Go To The Crime Scene And Examine. • Look For Foot Prints and Finger Prints. • Then We Search For Things Like Broken Glass and Blood. • If You Don’t Have Enough Evidence By Then You Go To Family of The Victims And Ask If Anything Is Out Of The Ordinary.

  21. What Does It Take To Be An FBI Profiler? • You Have To Have Three Years Of FBI Experience. • You Also Have To Have An Advanced Degree In Forensic Science • They Make About $100,000 A year • They Could Work At The FBI Headquarters Nearest To Them

  23. My Learning Preference • I Scored A 10 On A Kinesthetic Learning Style • I Think My Learning Style Is Just Right Because I Love Doing Experiments In School • I Also Love Doing Things That Involve Moving Around

  24. Kinesthetic Kinesthetic Means You Learn Better When You Can Touch Things And Hold Them In Your Hands It Also Means You Like Doing Things That Involves You Moving Around And Working With Other People
